About Us

The group meets on Monday and Fridays from 10.00am - 2.15pm at the Riverside Club, Bath Road, Near Waitrose, and caters for senior citizens and younger persons who have a  disability, and is fully accessible, including a wheelchair accessible  toilet.

What do we do? We  commence with tea and coffee giving members time to socialise and catch up on  each other's news. We have some lighthearted activities to give members the opportunity to stretch their legs and practice their skills, and this is  followed by other activities to stimulate the mind. Members are asked to bring a small gift which then enables us to have a raffle, and everyone is  a winner!  Lunch follows at 12 noon  - traditional home cooked two course, followed by tea or coffee.    The afternoon brings further activities and usually concludes with 'Eyes Down' for a session of bingo.    Our organiser is supported by a group of dedicated volunteers - she can be contacted on 07488328615 or 07799  511931.      Transport can be provided to and from the Centre for persons living in the Melksham area, including  Bowerhill, Shaw & Whitley and Berryfield.

Our sessional charge in 2022 is £8 with an additional £4 where transport is provided. In some cases a  supplementary fee of £3 may also apply.   We also arrange four outings throughout the year, suitable for all members to participate, including a scenic drive and a pub lunch, and sometimes something extra! We also aim to have special celebrations at Christmas and major festivals such as Burns Night, St David and St George's Days, Pancake Day etc.

The Rainbow Day Centre operates with minimal staff and relies upon the support of dedicated volunteers to assist members to gain maximum benefit from their attendance at the Centre, and in the provision of transport to and from the Centre, for which a mileage payment is made.
