Plant a tree for the Jubilee!

As part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, the Queen is encouraging everyone to plant a tree in 2022 to commemorate her 70th year on the throne.

Melksham Town Council is arranging for residents in Melksham to have the opportunity to plant their own tree in their gardens.  To sign up for a tree that will be available in the Autumn, please email townhall@melksham-tc.gov.uk or call 01225 704187.

So many people have brought their skills together to enhance our beautiful town for this event, including some of the following:

Purple Flags in the Market Place

These were done by Terri Welch and her amazing team of flagmakers, all by volunteers, supported by the Melksham Bloomers, put up by our helpful Amenities team and Paul Weymouth.

Jubilee themed floral planting in the Town Centre

This was organised and planted by Melksham Town Council's Amenities Team, with the support of the Melksham Bloomers, completed with an impressive crown made for Melksham in the Market Place Roundabout.

Town Hall illuminations and lighting up the crown in the Market Place

Done by Paul Weymouth, for which we are very grateful, to add to the excellent work of our Amenities Team in getting the Jubilee themed flowers (and impressive crown) on the roundabout and around town.

Bunting throughout town

So many people have done their bit to hang bunting around the town, all finished off beautifully by the high strings across the street, which were installed by Paul Weymouth and the Christmas Lights volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who is making this weekend memorable in Melksham. We look forward to celebrating this historic occasion with the community safely and responsibly, and we ask you to please not attend any of these events if you are displaying any covid symptoms.
