Given the lockdown across England, from today, Thursday 5 November, Melksham Town Council placed a wreath of remembrance at the Town’s War Memorial on Wednesday 4 November, rather than on Remembrance Sunday.

A short video of participants paying their respects and laying a wreathes, was taken and will be made available on the Melksham Town Council YouTube channel on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November.

We are in challenging times and, whilst we regret the need for this course of action, which has brought about by the need to increase COVID-19 security, we emphasise that the safety of the public and that of our councillors and staff underpinned this decision.

The Town Council encourages residents to join the Doorstep Remembrance at 11.00 AM on Sunday 8 November, in order to pay their respects in a COVID-19 secure manner.
