Sensory Garden in King George V Playing Fields

As part of the many developments taking place in King George V Playing Field, the Sensory Garden, to the south of the park is undergoing some improvements too. The 6,000 bulbs that were planted last autumn have started to bloom, and beautiful snowdrops and crocus have added to the springtime delights of daffodils and cherry blossom already in the area. To enhance the sensory element of the area, a range of fragrant shrubs have been ordered, which will be planted in the next few weeks, along with over 150 square metres of wildflower turf which will be installed along the raised area under the trees. A local artist, Jack Raisey, has been commissioned to create a chime sculpture that people will be able to interact with, which will provide beautiful sounds to add to the sensory experience of the area.A group of Friends of King George V is being set up so if you are interested in supporting or helping with any developments in the park, please get in touch by calling the Town Hall on 01225 704187 or email miriam.zaccarelli@melksham-tc.gov.uk
