Would you like to be part of a proactive team responsible for maintaining an effective street scene environment and high-quality of horticulture within the town of Melksham and the wider area?
You will also provide support and assistance as a member of the Amenities Team in terms of maintenance and green space upkeep to enhance the profile of the Town Council and of Melksham generally.
The operation of the popular Splashpad at King George V playing fields is also part of this role for which training will be provided.
This role would suit someone with practical experience in horticulture and maintenance. In addition, the experience of using power tools, knowing what “good looks like” and most of all, a willingness, and the enthusiasm to get stuck in, whatever the job throws at you. A “can do” attitude is a must rather than giving “reasons why not”.
Duties will include the maintenance of Town Council properties including play areas and street furniture; the care of the town floral decorations; the physical management of allotment sites; and completion and implementation of Risk Assessments.
Candidates must possess rigorous attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritise work and achieve tasks within tight time frames. A good understanding of Health and Safety and PPE requirements is required whilst experience in operating fixed plants and machinery would be advantageous.
The successful applicant must be willing and able to work a flexible shift pattern including weekends, early evenings, and Bank Holidays, and a clean, full valid UK driving license is mandatory.
