Would you like to lead and manage a proactive team responsible for maintaining the high quality of horticulture within the town of Melksham and the wider area? You will also design and create floral displays throughout the town liaising with other community groups. You will need to have at least five years’ practical and management experience in a horticultural role and a recognised horticultural qualification. Above all a can-do mindset and willingness to achieve is essential for this role. A commitment to be trained in the basic operation of our Splashpad facility is required.
Duties will include the supervision of all aspects of horticulture, groundsmanship and general husbandry including grass cutting, strimming, pruning, sweeping and weeding at Town Council owned or maintained sites primarily in the Town Centre and KGV Park, Churchyard, open and closed cemeteries as well as the formal gardens. The successful candidate will have line management responsibility for two horticulture apprentices.
Candidates must possess a rigorous attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritise work and manage staff rotas. Experience of budget management would be useful. The ability to undertake Streetscene cleaning tasks and general maintenance of the town and park areas is required.
The successful applicant must be willing and able to work a flexible work pattern including weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays, and have a clean, valid UK driving licence.
