New Street Trees for Melksham Town

Following a unanimous resolution from the Asset Management and Amenities Committee on Monday 10th June 2024, Melksham Town Council have agreed to plant 20 additional street trees throughout Melksham.

The motion recommends adding a variety of ornamental flowering and fruit trees to the existing array of hanging baskets, troughs and trees to extend and retain the floral display year-round.

The planting of additional perennials will not only improve the vibrancy and attractiveness of the Town Centre but will also contribute to the Council’s biodiversity goals.

The containers for the trees will be made using recycled wood by local community group, The Melksham Shed, who specialise in various DIY and crafting projects. The planters will be designed so that they can be dismantled and re-used once the trees have outgrown them.

The Town Council Amenities Team will begin planting these new trees in the Autumn/Winter season.
