Bra Bank Collection Point

Melksham Town Council Becomes Official Bra Bank Collection Point

Melksham residents are invited to drop off unwanted bras at Melksham Town Hall to support recycling, fundraising, and community wellbeing.

At the Full Council meeting on Monday 2 February 2026, Melksham Town Council approved the introduction of a Bra Bank in Melksham Town Hall. Bra Banks offer an environmentally friendly way to raise money for charity while reducing textile waste. Through the scheme, participating organisations receive 50p per kilogram of donated bras, to put towards a charity of their choice.

Residents can now bring their unwanted bras to the Town Hall, helping to generate valuable funds for charity, give quality bras a new lease of life, and reduce the number of textiles going to landfill.

Fundraise & Recycle supplies Bra Banks and collection boxes across the UK to support local fundraising and recycling initiatives. Each collection box typically holds the equivalent of three to five bags of bras. Once full, Fundraise & Recycle arrange collection and delivery to a processing unit. The scheme promotes textile reuse, reduces landfill waste, supports women in need and creates a long-term source of income for participating businesses.

Melksham Town Hall is now open for bra collection. You can learn more about Fundraise & Recycle here: https://www.fundraiserecycle.com/bra-bank

Melksham Town Council Councillor Jennie Westbrook, said:

“I am really pleased that Melksham Town Council is supporting this simple but powerful initiative. The Bra Bank gives residents an easy way to reduce waste, support women in need and raise money for good causes at the same time. It is a small action that can make a meaningful difference, and I hope our community will get behind it.”
