Melksham Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Mayoral Cadet

Lance Corporal William Watters Appointed as Melksham’s Mayoral Cadet for 2025–2026

Melksham Town Council is proud to announce the appointment of Lance Corporal William Watters of the Melksham Detachment as the Mayoral Cadet for the 2025–2026 civic year.

William has been selected for this prestigious role in recognition of his outstanding service to the local community, his initiative in raising funds for charity through the creation of his own cookbook, and the glowing commendation he received from his commanding officer.

The role of Mayoral Cadet offers a young person the opportunity to accompany the Mayor at key civic events throughout the year and serve as a representative of youth involvement in public life. William’s commitment, leadership, and civic-minded spirit exemplify the values Melksham Town Council seeks to promote through this role.

“We are delighted to welcome Lance Corporal Watters as this year’s Mayoral Cadet,” said Councillor Saffi Rabey, Mayor of Melksham. “His dedication and positive impact on the community make him a worthy ambassador, and we look forward to working with him throughout the year.”

William will begin his duties shortly and will be formally introduced at an upcoming civic engagement.
