Melksham Town Council has completed its Community Vision Survey, designed to gather residents’ views on a range of key local issues ahead of the Council’s upcoming Corporate Planning Day. The survey received 150 responses, the majority of which came from residents living within the Town Council boundaries, providing a representative sample for the size of the local population.
The full report and supporting documents will be made publicly available on the Melksham Town Council website once published.
Key Themes and Top Priorities
Across the survey, two themes stood out as the most important to respondents:
- Parks and open spaces
- Environment and sustainability
Respondents shared clear concerns regarding:
- Public transport and local connectivity
- The maintenance and protection of Melksham’s green spaces
- The ongoing cost-of-living pressures affecting households
A significant number of participants expressed strong enthusiasm for the introduction of wild areas, natural play spaces, and environmentally friendly outdoor areas, highlighting a desire for spaces that are both sustainable and beneficial for families and children.
Community Sessions Increase Engagement
To ensure that all residents had an opportunity to participate — including those unable to access an online form — the Community Development team hosted seven Community Sessions at various times and locations across Melksham.
Each session was attended by at least one member of the Community Development team, providing an informal space for residents to share their views directly.
Melksham Town Council extends sincere thanks to all individuals who took part in both the survey and the in-person sessions.
