Dunch Lane Play Park and Riverside Play Park Redevelopment

Melksham Town Council is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of two play areas: Dunch Lane Play Park, for children aged 0-4, and Riverside Play Park, for children aged 5 and over. Together, these projects aim to create high-quality, inclusive and imaginative play environments that reflect local character, respond to community priorities, and provide lasting value for children, families and the wider community. Both schemes must align with the PiPA Play framework, ensuring that accessibility, inclusion, and play value are embedded throughout design, delivery, and future management.

Dunch Lane will focus on early years development, offering a safe, welcoming, and sensory-rich environment with imaginative role-play inspired by Melksham’s heritage. Riverside will provide a more adventurous, destination play space, drawing on its riverside setting to encourage exploration, challenge and social interaction. Both sites should incorporate inclusive equipment, natural features and flexible layouts, with designs that support safe supervision, long-term durability and the potential to adapt over time as community needs evolve.
