The upcoming week of activities aims to bring the community together to encourage creativity, collaboration and excitement that appeals to a range of age groups.
Pancake Day
Tuesday 17th February from 12:00
Melksham Town Council are hosting a range of pancake themed activities in Market Place this Pancake Day. The event will include a family friendly pancake race with categories for children and parents, in addition to pancake flipping competitions. We are encouraging all residents to take part. Whether you are skilled at rapid consecutive pancake rotations or you have mastered an impressive flip! Come along to show off your spectacular pancake skills.
Local pub, The Kings Arms, will also be serving delicious pancakes for spectators or fierce competitors to enjoy during the event.
Bunting Workshop
Wednesday 18th February 10:00 & 13:30, Thursday 19 February 10:00 & 13:30
The Melksham Flag Group will be hosting four free bunting making workshops at Melksham Town Hall, inviting children with their families to create vibrant, nature inspired designs. In celebration of the upcoming 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, the bunting will proudly decorate Melksham Market Place, honouring his lifelong contribution to conservation and the natural world.
All materials will be provided, and members of the Flag Group will be on hand to share their expertise. Due to high demand, all sessions must be booked in advance, with links available through the Melksham Town Council website. All children must be accompanied by an adult to take part in the workshop.
Family Film
Friday 20th February at 14:00
To end the week, families are invited to sit back and relax while enjoying an exciting adventure on the big screen.
The movie follows the story of Nim and her marine-biologist father, who live in harmony on a remote island, until one day her father goes missing at sea. She is left with only one person to turn to, adventure author Alex Rover. What Nim doesn’t know is that, despite the action packed tales in Alex’s stories, the author hardly leaves the safety of her office. Together, they must face their fears and work to find Nim’s father and bring him home before it’s too late!
All children must be accompanied by an adult, and free tickets can be booked online via the Melksham Town Council website.
Melksham Town Council remains committed to boosting community engagement, by organising a busy schedule of free activities for families to get involved with over school holidays.
