New Community Discovery Event

Meet Melksham

Discover What Your Town Has to Offer at Melksham Town Council’s New Community Discovery Event ‘Meet Melksham’

Melksham Town Council is hosting a community discovery event on Saturday 16th May 2026 at Melksham Assembly Hall to raise awareness about Melksham’s wide range of clubs, societies, and informal community groups.

Meet Melksham responds to the challenges faced by local clubs, societies and community groups in reaching new potential members, and seeks to create a single, visible opportunity for residents to explore what is available in Melksham and identify activities they may wish to join.

Many residents may not be aware of the full range of opportunities available, particularly those new to the town, returning to activities, or seeking social connection. Meet Melksham facilitates community groups in showcasing the many opportunities available and supports residents in discovering what is happening locally.

The first event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 16th May 2026, between 10:00am and 3:00pm, at Melksham Assembly Hall. The event will consist of stalls or tables allocated to participating organisations, allowing members of the public to circulate freely and engage informally.

For businesses, it offers a valuable touchpoint to connect with the organisations that make up our community, build relationships and explore potential collaborations.

Community groups interested in hosting a stall can contact Melksham Town Council’s Community@melksham-tc.gov.uk to learn more or register to take part.

Councillor, Jennie Westbrook, commented:

““Meet Melksham is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the beating heart of our town, our community groups, and the people behind them are who make Melksham such a special place to live. These groups create spaces for friendship, support, and shared interests that bring people together every day. By connecting residents with these organisations, we’re opening the door to new friendships, fresh experiences, and a stronger sense of belonging. This event is about showcasing the very best of Melksham and reinforcing our commitment to building a more connected, inclusive community where everyone can thrive.”
