Wade Merritt

This month, we’re delighted to welcome Wade Merritt to Friday Light Live. With a rich, soulful voice and a sound that blends timeless nostalgia with fresh original songwriting, Wade draws inspiration from everyone from the sixties greats and Fleetwood Mac to MIKA and Bond theme classics. Expect an evening of captivating performances, familiar favourites and beautifully crafted originals in the heart of Melksham.

Market Place will be transformed into a relaxed social space with tables and chairs, creating a welcoming setting for a varied programme of performances. Depending on interest from local performers, events may feature musicians, dancers, poets, speakers and other creatives, with different performances each month to appeal to a wide audience.

The initiative was proposed at the Town Council’s Community Development meeting in March and will run as a summer trial, with ongoing review.

The first Friday Light Live event will take place on Friday, 29 May 2026, from 6.00pm, and residents are warmly invited to come along and be part of something new.
