Friday Light Live

Taking place on the last Friday of each month throughout the summer, starting in May, the low-cost event will showcase local talent while encouraging residents and visitors to spend more time in the town centre and explore nearby shops, cafés and pubs.

Market Place will be transformed into a relaxed social space with tables and chairs, creating a welcoming setting for a varied programme of performances. Depending on interest from local performers, events may feature musicians, dancers, poets, speakers and other creatives, with different performances each month to appeal to a wide audience.

The initiative was proposed at the Town Council’s Community Development meeting in March and will run as a summer trial, with ongoing review.

The first Friday Light Live event will take place on Friday, 29 May 2026, from 6.00pm, and residents are warmly invited to come along and be part of something new.
