FREE! Wildlife Home Making Workshop

Help us protect Melksham’s wildlife!

Local families can get hands-on in helping build homes for wildlife from recycled wood this October half term, with free workshops being hosted by Melksham Town Council. The habitats will then be installed across the town to provide safe homes for local wildlife.

Unused timber, generously donated by local business Timber Tack, will be transformed into hedgehog homes, bat boxes and bug houses that will be installed throughout Melksham, including at allotments, parks and other green spaces.

The workshops will give children and their families the opportunity to learn basic woodworking skills while contributing to a project that benefits the local environment. Participants will be supported by members of the Town Team throughout the sessions, using step-by-step guides.

The workshops will take place on Tuesday 27 October 2026 at Melksham Assembly Hall, with two sessions available:

10:00am to 12:00pm – Book here: www.ticketsource.com/melkshamtc/free-wildlife-home-making-workshop/e-aoboblk

1:00pm to 3:00pm – Book here: www.ticketsource.com/melkshamtc/free-wildlife-home-making-workshop/e-zxyxygx

Workshops are free to attend, but spaces are limited and advance booking is required.

For families who are unable to attend, the workshop guides will be available to download from the Melksham Town Council website, enabling residents to create their own wildlife homes and play a part in making Melksham a more wildlife-friendly town.
